At the December Board Meeting, the Meade County Board of Education approved the school calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. Designed with input from stakeholders and a focus on meeting the needs of students, families, and staff, the calendar includes a few notable adjustments to support upcoming priorities.
A key factor influencing the new calendar is an upcoming construction project at Meade County High School. To ensure the summer months of 2026 are available for critical construction work, the school year will conclude one week earlier than usual in Spring 2026.
To make this adjustment possible, the following changes were made to the calendar:
Oak’s Day will be a regular school day next school year, providing an additional instructional day to help meet the earlier closing date.
Fewer traditional snow days are planned, with an increased use of Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days in the event of inclement weather. This approach will help prevent the school year from extending into the following week.
Spring break has been moved one week earlier than usual next year, creating a more natural flow in the instructional calendar and aligning better with the earlier end of the school year.
“This calendar reflects our commitment to supporting student learning while also accommodating the needs of our families and staff,” said Dr. Mark Martin, Superintendent of Meade County Schools. “We appreciate the community’s flexibility and understanding as we work to balance instructional time with the demands of an exciting construction project at MCHS.”
