In recognition of her dedication and service, Meade County Schools is proud to announce Mrs. Regina Decker, a school bus driver, as the 2025 Classified Team Member of the Year, honored with the prestigious Fred Award. Mrs. Decker’s care and commitment extend far beyond her role, making a lasting difference in the lives of the students and families she serves.
Known for treating her bus riders like her own children, Mrs. Decker begins and ends each student’s school day with kindness and consistency. She greets them with a smile, builds meaningful relationships, and goes above and beyond through small acts of thoughtfulness such as sending cards, giving gifts, and celebrating special moments. Parents often share how much comfort it brings them to know that their children are cared for and safe in her care.
Her impact reaches beyond the bus ride. Mrs. Decker attends her students’ activities, fosters connections with families, and extends her support into the community. She calmly manages conflicts when they arise, teaching her riders respect and responsibility while ensuring every child feels secure. Her reliability, cheerful attitude, and dedication inspire both students and parents, making every ride a safe and memorable experience.
Director of Transportation Travis Scott praised Mrs. Decker’s service, saying, “Regina Decker is a true example of how school transportation is about so much more than getting students from one place to another. She provides safety, care, and connection to her riders every single day. Regina’s relationships with students and families show the heart of what it means to serve in Meade County Schools, and we are grateful for the positive difference she makes.”
Mrs. Decker’s recognition as Classified Team Member of the Year highlights the essential role of classified employees in Meade County Schools. Her work reminds us that every role in the district, whether in the classroom, the cafeteria, or behind the wheel of a bus, contributes to creating safe, supportive, and meaningful experiences for children.
Each spring, an awards committee made up of students, employees, and parents seeks nominations from across the district. Individuals nominated for this award may then choose to fill out an application for competitive consideration by the committee.
Congratulations to Mrs. Regina Decker on this well-deserved honor. Her dedication, compassion, and service to our students and community truly embody the essence of the Fred Award.
